Bound for Europe

Off we go!
Date:  June 18th, 2013
Time: 1:00 pm
First destination:  London

Brad's sabbatical from INTEL has officially begun for those of you who might have missed this huge milestone.  We are headed to Europe for a two month vacation.  Interesting word, "vacation".  Is there such a thing with three kids in tow?  Maybe "adventure" is a better word.

To get this blog started right, we thought we would familiarize you with the characters above.  Let's see how well you know us by taking this Sabbatical Savvy quiz.

1)  Who packed exactly according to Rick Steves reccommendations?
a. Brad
b.Nancy
c. the three kids

2)  Number of pairs of Nikes we brought along - risking total alienation from our European comrades.
a. 2
b .5
c. 4

3) Which child would be fine with riding a double decker bus and then turning around and returning home?
a.  Lucas
b.  Nadia
c.  Elliot

4) Which disaster was narrowly diverted?
a.  Lucas bringing his skateboard on his backpack.
b.  Nadia bringing her balance beam on her backpack.
c.  Elliot bringing Esme the dog on his backpack.

5)  Number of power cords packed.
a. none
b.  one
c.  too many to count

Answers ....
1.  (a) Brad of course.   Nancy has a fudged version of Rick Steves packing list.
2.  (b) 5.  Hopefully we won't all wear them at the same time.  I won't even start on the flip flops.  Kids know to wear them at the beach and pool only!
3.  (c)  Elliot.  Leaving his friends was hard to do ... but we are convinced he will be the one to turn into the wanderlust kid.
4.  (a)  Oy.  Lucas.  Evidence that we have a teenager on board.  I think he finally believed us that he would probably get arrested in Rome for doing flip kicks at the Colosseum.
5.  (c)  Too many to count.  What can we say?  Times have changed since our last stay in Europe when we still relied on guidebooks.  We will be plugged in during this time - but mainly to access insider info on where to go.

We'll be back soon - from our new time zone!

  1. Hi you guys. Glad to hear the expedition has safely landed. I predict that you'll have an amazing adventure with many stories for years to come! Remember to eat your meatballs with grace when in Italia! Looking forward to more details. Love, Uncle Bruce
